Fairytales, March 18th and 19th, 2009

Begin by singing Raffi's Shake My Sillies Out.

Book: The Kiss That Missed by David Melling

Rhyme: Little Miss Muppet
We told the rhyme with the help of a spider on a string which "frightened us away" at the end of the rhyme.

Book: Falling for Rapunzel by Leah Wilcox
We did this as a puppet show.

Rhyme: I’m a Little Teapot

Book: The Little Red Hen by Heather Forest

Rhyme: Hey Diddle Diddle
To tell the rhyme we used a stuffed cow and a poster board moon. We then tried some variations on the rhyme to see what the kids thought. We had the cow jump over, around, into and beside the moon. Each time the children had a good time telling us what we SHOULD be doing – FUN! We ended by telling the rhyme correctly.

Book: The Foggy Foggy Forest by Nick Sharratt

Final Activity: Jack Be Nimble
We made an awesome candlestick that the children took turns jumping over while we repeated the rhyme. A great ending to a great storytime!
