Book: A Penguin Story by Antoinette Portis
Activity/Poem: All Dressed Up
Penguins dressed up black and white
Really make a fancy sight!
Sometimes I get dressed up too.
I wear my---and look like new!
(cowboy hat, red cape, feather boa, brown wig…)
Penguins shuffle shuffle shuffle to the left left left.
Penguins shuffle shuffle shuffle to the right right right.
Give a little wiggle.
Give a little hop.
Waddle around the iceberg,
Never want to stop.

Puppet Show: based on Today I Will Fly by Mo Willems (substituted Elephant and Piggie with Walrus and Penguin…)
Rhyme: Five Little Penguins
Five little penguins stood on the shore,
One went for a swim and then there were four.
Four little penguins looked out to sea,
One went swimming and then there were three.
Three little penguins said, “What can we do?”
One jumped in the water and then there were two.
Two little penguins sat in the sun,
One swam off and then there was one.
One little penguin said, “This is no fun!”
He dived into the water and then there were none.

Finally: Penguin eggs – we gave each child a “penguin egg” (white beanbag) and danced to Walking in the Snow from Bananas in Pajamas .
