Begin by Singing Raffi's Shake My Sillies Out

Book: Ruby Sings the Blues by Niki Daly

Activity: Puppet Scat (I used a puppet with a cool pair of sunglasses to teach the kids how to scat)

Book: Cool Daddy Rat by Kristyn Crow

Poem: Orchestra by Shel Silverstein
(Had the kids "play" their instruments while I read the poem)

So you haven't got a drum, just beat your belly.
So you haven't got a horn- I'll play my nose.
So we haven't any cymbals-
We'll slap our hands together,
And though there may be orchestras
That sound a little better
With their fancy shiny instruments
That cost an awful lot-
Hey, We're making music twice and good
By playing what we've got.

Book: Squeek, Rumble, Whomp! Whomp!Whomp! by Wynton Marsalis

Song: "Trashin' the camp" from the soundtrack of Disney's Tarzan (I passed out the egg shakers and gave the kids kazoos to dance and play with during the song)

Book: Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin
