Bears, Preschool Storytime, January 29th & 30th, 2014

Dustin and I entered the Story Room dressed as lumberjacks and singing “Heigh-ho, Heigh-ho, it’s home from work we go.”

Begin by singing Raffi’s “Shake My Sillies Out” (w/ lumberjack moves).
BookBig Bear Hug by Nicholas Oldland.

Song – “The Bears on the Bus.”  (We used bear puppets to help with this
song.)

The bears on the bus go roar, roar, roar,
Roar, roar, roar, roar, roar, roar.
The bears on the bus go roar, roar, roar,
All through the town.
* * * * *
The bears on the bus take a nap . . .
The bears on the bus eat some honey . . .
The bears on the bus hide from bees . . .
The bears on the bus claw the chairs . . .
The people on the bus go ahhh, ahhh, ahhh!

BookBear in Underwear by Todd H. Doodler.  (We used a bear puppet and
an assortment of underpants, along with the actual book.)

Activity/StoryWe’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen & Helen
Oxenbury.  (We had the kids do the actions with us in place of reading the book.)

BookThe Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear
by Don & Audrey Wood.

Song – “Five Bears in the Bed.” (I have a bed prop which can be used along
with the song.)

Five bears in the bed and the little one said,
“Roll over, I’m crowded.”
So they all rolled over, and one fell out.

Four bears in the bed, and the little one said,
“Roll over, I’m crowded.”
So they all rolled over and one fell out.

Three bears in the bed, and the little one said,
“Roll over, I’m crowded.”
So they all rolled over and one fell out.

Two bears in the bed, and the little one said,
“Roll over, I’m crowded.”
So they all rolled over and one fell out.

One bear in the bed, and the little one said,
“I’m lonely, come back.”

Activity/Song – Bear hats and song.  We made bear hats for each of the kids
and then had them do the actions to the song, “Teddy Bear Teddy Bear,” from the compact disc, Songs from The Cozy Cottage.
