Begin by singing Raffi’s Shake
My Sillies Out.
Book: I Love My Mommy by Giles Andreae and
Emma Dodd.
Poem: My Mother Has Gone Crazy by Suzanne
Wunder from the book, I Invited a Dragon
to Dinner and Other Poems to Make You Laugh Out Loud, illustrated by Chris
L. Demarest. We used puppets and props to tell this poem.
Book: Mother, Mother, I Want Another by Maria
Polushkin Robbins; illustrated by Jon Goodell.
Song: Over in the Meadow from the Raffi cd Baby Beluga. We used some animal
pictures on a magnetic chalkboard while we sang the song.
Story: Monkey Face. We told this story using
pictures on a magnetic chalkboard.
Story: Busy Mother.
Book/Song: Down By the Bay by Raffi; illustrated by
Nadine Bernard Westcott. We used a mother puppet to help sing this song.
Puppet Show: My Mom Is Better than Your Mom based on
the story by Andy Griffiths from the book, Guys
Write for Guys Read. We used puppets as well as transparencies on the
overhead projector to perform this funny story.
Craft: Mommy Hug.
We let the kids trace and cut out their hands with construction paper and then
connect them with a piece of yarn which was the same length as their arm span. This
way they were able to show their moms just how much they love them!
